Case Study:
Kurant/eBay
When e-commerce infrastructure developer Kurant was looking for a new tech PR agency, Walt & Company was selected based on its technical acumen, its track record of success and its enthusiasm. During the years that Walt & Company represented Kurant, its StoreSense software grew to become the premier e-business services platform for SMBs. Thousands of companies used StoreSense to manage all aspects of e-commerce and to compete more effectively. A key to the Walt & Company strategy for Kurant was to promote the company’s superior technology via head-to-head product reviews – specifically against Yahoo! Stores.
Results: Walt & Company generated widespread awareness for Kurant’s e-commerce solution, leveraging customer/partner relationships to garner media coverage. Coverage in the business/financial media was a key objective for the company in order to create interest among the investment banking community and attract suitors interested in Kurant. As a result of these efforts, the company was acquired by eBay and currently operates under the name ProStores, which Walt & Company continued to promote after the deal closed. A final tribute was paid by eBay to the Kurant PR effort once its due diligence was completed: based on the quality and quantity of coverage and market visibility, prior to reviewing Kurant’s books, eBay had assumed that Kurant was a considerably larger company than it actually was.
