Case Study:

SanDisk ESS/Pliant Technology

Recognizing our extensive experience in developing communications programs for the enterprise, OEM and storage technology industries, Pliant Technology selected Walt & Company as its public relations firm in early 2007. Our Pliant PR program was designed to include several key phases: beginning with the company launch and a visibility and category creation campaign to generate awareness for the company’s innovative Enterprise Flash Drives (EFDs), and establishing a foundation for the introduction of its first commercially available EFD products. Walt & Company leveraged key company and technology strengths – including a veteran storage executive team and compelling “green IT” product benefits – to drive high-impact visibility with IT, storage, OEM, data center and green media and analysts, as well as with industry bloggers and social media influencers. We also established and managed Pliant’s blog, Enterprise Storage Sense, and utilized social media tools, including Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia, to build company brand recognition and drive organic search visibility.

Results: Walt & Company generated extensive coverage for Pliant in key IT, storage, OEM, data center, and business media – ranging from eWeek and Computerworld to Bloomberg News and DowJones/Venture Wire – and secured placement in two 2008 high-profile “Ten Storage Companies to Watch” articles in Byte and Switch and NetworkWorld. We also helped Pliant establish EFD as a unique product category, and secured numerous editorial and analyst followers to the Pliant blog.
