It’s Hug a Newsperson Day…

Merritt Woodward

From sharing local community education, society and technology updates to reporting on national initiatives that impact our world at large, reporters work hard to keep us informed of important and interesting updates in the world we live in.  Those of us in the PR world value the time spent with journalists, the incredible working relationships established over the years and the time they put in to preparing a story…

  • Knowing their audience and ensuring they are covering what matters most

  • Becoming an expert on a subject and learning all sides impacting the story

  • Maintaining objectivity despite everything thrown at them, even some of the pressure they get from PR people, 😊

  • Dealing with ethical dilemmas and persevering

  • Keeping up with deadlines and timelines that oftentimes seem utterly impossible

  • Navigating fake news and misinformation in our ever-changing digital world

The news world continues to evolve and reporting credibly within today’s media landscape continues to be a challenge. Moreover, many people don’t realize the time that goes into reporting, the research and fact checking and commitment to taking part in telling an authentic and compelling story.

Over the years the #waltcrew has worked with countless journalists, reporters and correspondents and we appreciate the hard work, dedication and time they put into their jobs to report on and share the news. One example that stands out is Walt & Company’s work with NBC’s Dylan Dreyer and the USA Artistic Swimming Team for a special live performance in New York City’s Times Square for client Epson’s “Swimming in Ink” event. Beyond her reporting duties, Dylan dedicated days prior to the event to suit up with the swim team and practice the performance alongside team members to prepare for the segment planned for The Today Show.

In honor of National Hug a Newsperson Day #HugANewspersonDay, the #waltcrew team would like to send a special shout out to the journalists, reporters and correspondents who deliver us the news.  Virtual hugs to you all.
